My side project of creating a language learning app for Android.
Polly is an Android native flashcards app that lets you learn vocabulary in any language. It uses spaced repetition and different types of exercises. The user can either add their own vocabulary via text or csv import, download it from a huge collection of pre-defined lists or generate it with their own AI LLM (must support OpenAI API standard).
Features & Description
- Translation: Translate words and phrases with an AI model of your choice and add custom instructions on how to translate. Additionally, get explanations and alternative translations. There is also a translation server as a fallback to AI translation.
- Dictionary: Get the definition and much more like grammar details and examples of any term in any language. Also, get the etymology of any word.
- Corrector: Correct phrases (grammar and orthography) of any word in any language. Optionally, style the wording of a phrase (e.g., casually, professionally, academically…)
- Flashcards: Create, generate or import vocabulary flashcards. Let AI generate flashcards according to any topic or category you can imagine. Learn Flashcards through different exercises with spaced repetition and a level/stage system. Filter and categorize flashcards by language, stage and grammatical features or create manual lists.
